March
March is the third month in the modern Gregorian and Julian Calendars although it was the first month of the Roman calendar year when it was called Martius and named after Mars, who was one of the most important Gods of the Ancient Romans.
The full moon in March may be called a Blood Moon, Storm Moon, the Worm Moon, the Full Crust Moon, The Full Crow Moon, The Lenten Moon or the Sap Moon.
March symbolises the arrival of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, with the awakening of the earth from its winter months and the emergence of new life.
March is considered as being a month of new beginnings, balance of light and dark, breaking illusions, rebirth, renewal, growth, fertility, cleansing, harnessing the energy of the season to bring positive changes with the Spring Deities being honoured.
The Spring Equinox and Ostara are celebrated in March (in the Northern Hemisphere); a time to celebrate and honour the arrival of the spring and the balance between the daylight and dark with outdoor ceremonies, sewing seeds etc as well as for connecting with the natural world and nature walks.
