Fossil Wood

AKA Petrified Wood

Fossil Wood is a combination of the fossilised wood and minerals. The fallen trees, branches and trunks, from ancient woodlands; the pieces of wood have effectively had their chemical body replaced by a mineral or two. Usually these minerals will have been one of the Agates and Quartzes' add could also have been combined with other minerals such as Red Jasper. This process is likely to have commenced 60+ million years ago.

The colours within each piece may vary greatly and include reds, browns, blues and yellows throughout the piece. some slices may still have the ancient tree bark on their outer edge.
