Jasper Family

The Jasper family is large and varied, because of this they have been divided into colour groups here. Generally speaking they all carry the generic properties of the fabulous Red Jasper with one or two adjustments.

There is quite a bit of confusion between Agates and Jaspers, especially for those crystals who have been given the same names, as in Tree Agate and Tree Jasper!

The best way to check which is which is to shine a light at your crystal; if it is opaque, then it will be a jasper, if translucent then it will be an Agate.
