Goldstone is not strictly a crystal; it is a form of especially treated glass with pure copper added during the manufacturing process; it was first formed in the 17th century. The most popular and therefore common colour was and largely still is, is the reddish brown colour, but it can now be found in a few other colours such as dark blue and dark green.

Because of it being a "manufactured" stone, there is a differencing of opinion amongst crystal therapists and collectors as to whether Goldstone should be included in the therapist's "toolkit" or the collector's collection.

Despite this, goldstone is esoterically considered as a useful stone to promote optimism and personal growth, attracting good business practices and financial wealth, easing those times of anxiety and stress. It is also considered good for increasing energy levels.

Although not associated with any Zodiac signs, Goldstone is associated with some of the Chakras, depending upon the colour of the stone.
